About the Committee
The Student Advisors Articulation Committee supports student advisor collaboration, communication, and information sharing between institutions and government, as well as student access to relevant learner pathways information.
The Committee’s work focuses on the following:
- Increasing information sharing between institutions, post-secondary sectors, and the government to support student transitions and retention.
- Exploring opportunities to enhance the coordination and standardization of learner pathway requirements across the system.
- Exploring collaborative opportunities to increase student access to relevant learner pathways information.
- Identifying common student transition or retention themes and challenges that may be explored through committee working groups.

Objectives
The Student Advisors Articulation Committee supports student advisor collaboration, communication, and information sharing between institutions and government, as well as student access to relevant learner pathways information.
The Committee’s work focuses on the following:

Membership/Representation
The Alberta Council on Admissions and Transfer (ACAT) Student Advisors Articulation Committee is an institution-/organization-nominated committee of individuals that represent their respective institutions/organizations, their adult learning system sectors, and the experience of their students in accessing learner pathways information. The committee operates under the governance of ACAT/Advanced Education.
Membership is comprised of representatives from Alberta post-secondary institutions, as well as from Alberta Education and Advanced Education, who will provide support to the committee as appropriate.
Working groups may be formed from the committee’s members to conduct the work of the committee as required. All working groups will report on their activities to the entire committee.

Roles and Responsibilities
Chair
The Student Advisors Articulation Committee will identify a Chair for a two-year term. The Chair will:
- chair the semi-annual meetings and, if the meetings are to be held in-person, provide a host location for this meeting at their institution
- work with Advanced Education to identify the annual meeting and working group agendas
- work with the new Chair at the end of the two-year term to provide transition and/or to have their term renewed with the committee’s approval.
Working Group Members
- Working group members, where applicable, will be identified annually on a rotating volunteer basis from the committee’s membership.
All Committee Members
Each Committee member will:
- attend the semi-annual in-person/virtual meeting of the entire committee to communicate and share information regarding key topics as relevant
- take turn participating in small temporary working groups within the committee to support committee-led activities as relevant
- designate rotating volunteers to take minutes at the semi-annual meetings and record any key decisions points or action items
- vote on the designation of a new Chair(s) or renewed Chair(s) every two years.
Advanced Education
Advanced Education will assist the committee by supporting the Chair and committee in:
- sharing the committee’s terms of reference with institutions and planned posting of the terms of reference and future communications on ACAT’s articulation webpage for this committee.
- setting up the semi-annual meetings and working group meetings and support the committee’s designated minute taker as needed.
- providing information and related resources as needed for the working group, such as access to ACAT’s WebEx account or teleconference line.
- sharing communication with the committee and the system as needed, and communicating any committee concerns or questions as needed to Advanced Education representatives.
- maintaining the committee membership list.
