ACAT partnered with the Campus Alberta Quality Council and the Government of Alberta to host a system-wide discussion about post-secondary student learning outcomes.

2016 Learning Outcomes Forum

The Learning Outcomes Forum brought together post-secondary representatives from across Alberta to discuss the impact of establishing and assessing student learning outcomes. In particular:

  • How student learning outcomes can be effectively implemented
  • The need for assessment
  • Experiences with and plans for the use of learning outcomes in the Alberta post-secondary system

The forum heard from a number of different perspectives, including:

  • About 120 representatives from 35 publicly-funded, ACAT-member post-secondary institutions throughout Alberta
  • Post-secondary students
  • External experts on student learning outcomes, who brought provincial, national and international perspectives and experiences to stimulate and guide the discussion
  • Members of the Campus Alberta Quality Council, ACAT and the Government of Alberta

What We Heard

Forum participants discussed a variety of important considerations affecting student learning outcomes, which were summarized in the forum’s summary report. Videos of key presentations are also available for those who were unable to attend.
