Read about our efforts to improve student learning outcomes
ACAT partnered with the Campus Alberta Quality Council and the Government of Alberta to host a system-wide discussion about post-secondary student learning outcomes.
2016 Learning Outcomes Forum
The Learning Outcomes Forum brought together post-secondary representatives from across Alberta to discuss the impact of establishing and assessing student learning outcomes. In particular:
How student learning outcomes can be effectively implemented
The need for assessment
Experiences with and plans for the use of learning outcomes in the Alberta post-secondary system
The forum heard from a number of different perspectives, including:
About 120 representatives from 35 publicly-funded, ACAT-member post-secondary institutions throughout Alberta
External experts on student learning outcomes, who brought provincial, national and international perspectives and experiences to stimulate and guide the discussion
Members of the Campus Alberta Quality Council, ACAT and the Government of Alberta
What We Heard
Forum participants discussed a variety of important considerations affecting student learning outcomes, which were summarized in the forum’s summary report. Videos of key presentations are also available for those who were unable to attend.
