Access LPS tools
Ask your institution's Contact Person to request secure access permission for you. This permission will ensure you have read only access to the two tools listed below. If you do not know who your Contact Person is, please contact ACAT Secretariat.
The Learner Pathways System page shares How-To Guides for each component of the LPS, including the two you will be using.
Using the Transfer Credit Evaluation System (TCES)
You will use two main functionalities on TCES:
- Contacts - You can look up personal contact information for those responsible for transfer at every LPS member institution. This information is for advisor use only, and is not to be publicly disseminated.
- Search function - You can search for:
- Transfer decisions, such as courses and programs that transfer from one institution to another (search by either TO or FROM school and offering)
- Course or program offerings
Search for courses
If you search for courses, you will see:
- Instructor qualifications
- Credit value
- Credentials the course counts towards
- Calendar course description
- Pre-requisites
You can also search for course outlines (where available). As updates occur to the course outline module and institution data, more course outlines will become available. Please note, however, that these outlines are the intellectual property of the institution from which they originate. They are only to be used for the purposes of assisting in assessment of transfer. They are not public documents.
As feasible, ACAT encourages member institutions to enter all the courses for which they grant transfer credit, including transfer decisions with LPS member and non-member institutions, where the Alberta institution is the “TO” institution.
Search for programs
If you search for programs, you will see:
- Credit value
- Credential offered
- Description
- Admission requirements
Using the Learner Pathways Catalog
The Learner Pathways Catalog is where LPS system data is stored. You will use two main functionalities:
- Reporting function - Run reports for offerings, such as courses and programs from various post-secondary institutions, filtered by:
- Institution
- Subject area
- Course or program
- If there are transfer decisions for the course or program
You can see transfer decisions between post-secondary institutions, where an institution has made a decision to grant credit for the other institution's course or program.
- Contacts - You can also look up personal contact information for those responsible for transfer at every LPS member institution from the LPS Catalog, and download a spreadsheet of all contact information. This information is for advisor use only, and is not to be publicly disseminated.
- Course outlines - View your institution’s available course outlines in the Catalog. You view other institution’s available course outlines in the TCES. Planned updates to the course outlines module are in progress.
Please note that these outlines are the intellectual property of the institution from which they originate. They are only to be used for the purposes of assisting in assessment of transfer. They are not public documents.
