Tools for advisors at member institutions who have read-only access to Learner Pathway System (LPS) tools.
The Learner Pathways System page shares How-To Guides for each component of the LPS, including the two you will be using.
Using the Transfer Credit Evaluation System (TCES)
You will use two main functionalities on TCES:
Contacts - you can look up personal contact information for those responsible for transfer at every LPS member institution. This information is for advisor use only, and is not to be publicly disseminated.
Search function - you can search for:
Agreements, such as courses and programs that transfer from one institution to another (search by either TO or FROM school and offering)
Course or program offerings
Search for courses
If you search for courses, you will see:
Credentials the course counts towards
Calendar course description
You can also search for course outlines (where available). As more institutions start using LPS tools, more course outlines will become available. Please note, however, that these outlines are the intellectual property of the institution from which they originate. They are only to be used for the purposes of assisting in assessment of transfer. They are not public documents.
ACAT encourages member institutions to enter all the courses for which they grant transfer credit, including transfer agreements with LPS member and non-member institutions, where the Alberta institution is the “to” institution. Agreements are welcome even if they were not in previous iterations of the Transfer Alberta Search Tool, either because they are between research-intensive universities, or because they are with institutions outside of Alberta who are not LPS members. As time progresses, we hope to see even more agreements in the LPS tools.
Search for programs
If you search for programs, you will see:
Using the Learner Pathways Catalog
The Learner Pathways Catalog is where LPS system data is stored. You will use two main functionalities:
Reporting function - run reports for offerings, such as courses and programs from various post-secondary institutions, filtered by:
Course or program
If there are agreements for the course or program
You can also see agreements between post-secondary institutions, where one agrees to grant credit for the other institution's course or program.
Course outlines - view your institution’s available course outlines in the Catalog. You view other institution’s available course outlines in the TCES. As more institutions start using LPS tools, more course outlines will become available.
Please note that these outlines are the intellectual property of the institution from which they originate. They are only to be used for the purposes of assisting in assessment of transfer. They are not public documents.
